Wood flooring is a great addition to any home remodeling projects, especially a living room renovation. You can achieve an upscale look with this floor covering, whether you are designing a room that has modern industrial decor, rustic decor, or anything in-between. High-quality solid hardwood flooring can last the life of the home, and it can be refinished, as needed, throughout the years. Masters Flooring has a showroom in Keller, Texas. We carry a full line of hardwood flooring as well as other floorings like carpet, laminate, and vinyl.

Unfinished hardwood flooring

Unfinished solid hardwood boards are finished in the home. The installation team nails the boards to the subfloor and sands the floor. Then they apply a stain and sealer. This process takes about one week. An additional week is needed for acclimation. The floor has a flush look with this method of installation. Even though a project of this type may cause some inconvenience, it is worth it if you like a less common wood or stain that can’t be found in a prefinished style. Consider using unfinished wood for large renovations or new construction.

Prefinished and engineered wood flooring

Prefinished solid hardwood is milled from one piece of wood. Engineered hardwood is a multi-ply plank composed of a layer of hardwood that is bonded to a base layer. Both types of flooring are sanded, stained, and sealed in the factory. Like solid unfinished wood, prefinished wood is generally nailed to a wood subfloor. In contrast, engineered wood can often be fitted together in tongue and groove fashion to create a floor that floats over the subfloor. This wood flooring is appropriate for kitchens, stairs, and some basements. It’s not advisable to use it in bathrooms.
